Retro is Back

In an age of technology where sleek lines rule and everything has value and function, like smart fridges and voice activated remotes, it warms my heart to see the design industry embrace what once was.

Of course fashion and style is a never ending merry go round but I am loving the juxtaposition of old coupled with new - the contrast of pieces with lines taken from the 1950’s or 60’s coupled with current designs, colors and fabrics.

Following a chance breakfast meeting with the associate editor of Design New Jersey Magazine at High Point earlier this year, I was asked to style spot for a ‘designers favorite’ article. The topic was ‘favorite appliance’ and the Marshall retro speaker was my first thought! It was no surprise to see my write up joined by another designers retro top pick of Union Jack Smeg fridge. Being an English girl myself I love this write up from Blanche Garcia from B.Garcia designs.
